BMS ACE Team News

 

 

On Monday, October 16, 2017, ten schools participated in the second Southside Middle School Conference ACE meet of the season at Amelia County Middle School. ACE is an academic quiz bowl competition in which teams compete in  both toss-up (general knowledge) rounds and written vocabulary rounds. 

 

Bluestone won three out of four matches, winning against Park View, Russell, and Nottoway. The BMS team is currently in second place in terms of points, trailing the defending champions, Lunenburg, by only twenty-three points.

 

BMS eighth grader, John Johnson, led the BMS team, scoring 230 points during the meet, followed by Landon Green with 200 points and Layne Jones with 140 points.

 

Our vocabulary team of John Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Janie Pennington, and Danella Davis had their best match ever, scoring a perfect 100 in one of their rounds.

 

Bluestone Middle School’s ACE team, coached by Gina Thomasson, includes the following students: Lane Sandifer (captain), John Johnson (captain), Layne Jones, Ethan Nipper, Brandon Campbell, Landon Green, Janie Pennington, Hannah Johnson, and Danella Davis.

 

The final ACE meet in which the only the top six teams will compete will be held at Amelia County Middle School on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 4:30PM.
