                     BMS Civics students making preparation for court visit

The 8th grade Civics department is participating in the Virginia Rule of Law Project. This opportunity involves the Commonwealth Attorney's office, local lawyers, and judges in Mecklenburg County. Mr. Joshua Hatchell, a lawyer for the Commonwealth Attorney's office, has been working with students to prepare for their civil and criminal cases. Students have been actively participating in creating opening statements, direct questioning, cross examining witnesses and preparing closing arguments. This experience helps students actively participate in local government with hands on experience.
