Bluestone Middle Highlights
On Wednesday, November 13, 2013, the BMS GATE students were invited to attend the GSSV Players’ (Governor’s School) production of Robin Hood at Southside Virginia Community College. The entertaining play was written and performed by the GSSV Players and a good time was had by all who attended!
Mrs. Nipper’s 7th grade science classes investigated the basic physical and chemical processes of photosynthesis and its importance to plant and animal life through a “school campus field trip” where students had to observe the monkey grass lining the school sidewalk and justify reasons using photosynthesis reactants why the left side did not grow as well as right side and students designed a photosynthesis simulation “Garden in a Glove” through which they will make systematic observations, descriptions, and measurements as their data collection.
The Principal’s Corner
What a great start to the school year. It was wonderful to walk around to classrooms to day and see students engaged, teachers teaching and smooth transitions from elementary school to middle school and grade level to grade level.
I am excited about what the school year has in store for us. I look forward to getting to know each student. We have a tremendous opportunity to make a true difference and will make the most of that opportunity.
